Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better. ~ Albert Einstein ~*~
Rosie walked out of P.E., glad that the day was finally over so she didn't have to wear the stupid uniform the rest of the day. She walked out to the gardens so she could work on her schoolwork before she left the school grounds to go home to repeat her day tomorrow. She found her favorite garden, one that had a fountain and stone bench that was surrounded by pale yellow jasmines, that she had come across as freshman at the school.
She adjusted the beanie on her head, pulled out her orange Beats from her hoodie pocket, pulled her iPhone out of her pocket and turned Pandora on, stuck her headphones on, put her hood over her head, and then turned to her backpack and proceeded to take her books and homework out.
She started her work off with her Math work, wanting to get it out of the way so she could get to the better subjects like Science. It wasn't long before Rosie finally happily finished with her work; "Hm, I'm done with my work. What else should I do?" she thought to herself as she took the headphones off her ears and hung them around her neck, and started to put her books and work away in to her backpack.

Really, Alex shouldn't have been free. She should have been in one of the many available art rooms finishing a painting that was due later this week. But she had never claimed to be a particularly good student, and spending time inside wasn't really appealing to her today. Besides, she did her best work at the last minute. That's what she told herself, anyway.
The weather was just cold enough to make absurd articles of clothing appropriate. Most sane people were opting for jackets or sweaters at this point. Alex just settled for a sweatshirt and an adorable hooded scarf that she'd made a point of buying as soon as she was able to purchase her own wardrobe. Her darling stepmother would never have approved of it. Plugging her mustachioed earbuds into her ears, she hit shuffle on her phone, glad to have a phone that also functioned as an mp3 player.
Once outside, Alex stuffed her hands into the pockets at either end of her scarf and let her feet lead her. She really didn't care where she ended up as long as it was outside. A couple of minutes later, she'd managed to wander into a small park. Glancing around, she realized she knew this park, and the familiar silhouette of a blonde on the bench half-hidden by flowers was more than she'd hoped for. Snatching her earbuds out of her ears, she headed for the bench where Rosie was packing away her books. "Why in God's name are you hanging out in this hell hole when you could be somewhere else?" Alex asked, chuckling a little. She was infinitely jealous of the fact that Rosie didn't have to live on campus.

Rosie had just finished putting away the last of her schoolbooks when she a familiar chuckling, and looked up; in front of her was Alex. "Well, I had two choices: Stay here and do schoolwork in this spot, or go home and do schoolwork." She chuckled and smiled as she responded to Alex's question about still being on the school grounds. "I'd actually prefer to be here than home to be honest, cause Merlin most likely messed up the living room trying to play with Dinah again; and I dont wanna pick the toys." she smirked as she added, looking at the flowers while she spoke.
She looked back up at Alex, taking in the other girl and the outfit she was wearing that day. Rosie noticed that today Alex was dressed up in TOMs, pants, a mustachioed shirt, and a adorable hoodie scarf. She made a mental note to ask to borrow it for a day in the future. She had to admit Alex had a really good fashion sense; where Rosie just choose what she thought looked nice, and felt comfortable.
"So how have you been?" she asked not remembering, at the moment, seeing Alex at all that school day. Rosie's eyes looked about for a moment after she asked her question before her eyes rested back on Alex's face.

Of course, living on campus made Alex dislike it more than other students might. The fact that she and her roommate clashed horribly only made matters worse. Given the choice, she would rather live elsewhere. But that wasn't an option for her. Home was nine hundred miles away and filled with a family that was more complete without her. She supposed if her situation resembled her friend's, she might not be nearly so opposed to the idea of hanging out on campus. Besides, sitting around in the garden did have a certain appeal. Alex smirked at her friend. "Right. I forgot. Secluded gardens are infinitely preferable to pets," she mused. Of course, Alex disagreed. In general, she didn't enjoy being alone, and pets were at least more company than flowers.
The beauty of making friends with most of the student body was that it ensured Alex didn't have to be alone. Even in random, typically secluded places like this. Rosie's question hung in the air, and Alex wondered how to answer it. The most logical thing would be to say she'd been fine. She was pretty resilient even if things did seem to be going less well than she'd hoped. But she was also honest, and she figured she could use this opportunity to talk.
Perching herself on the bench beside her friend, Alex raked a hand through her hair. "Since you don't want to go pick up after your animals anyway, I guess I can give you a real answer," she replied, telling herself that she was doing the girl a favor. Where did she even start, though? "My roommate sucks," she began. That was certainly the easiest and most logical place to start. "She's one of those pretty jocks who thinks she rules the world. And she actually follows the rules." Sneering, Alex shook her head. Following rules was so boring! "But I met a girl the other day... She's new. A sophomore. Plays the cello. She's pretty great. And I got a job. Babysitting some kid whose dad hasn't figured out I'm gay yet..." Shrugging, she let out a short laugh. That hadn't been as complicated as it had felt in her head. "How're you?" she added, figuring it was only fair to ask.
ooc -- sorry that took so long! and don't worry about post length! in general, i'm a wordy person. <3

Rosie sat there nodding her head as she listened to Alex tell her how her day had been. "I'm sure she doesn't follow the rules a hundred percent of the time, no one ever really does." Rosie marked when Alex had made a comment about her roommate following the rules.
"That's great!" Rosie exclaimed with a smile when she heard Alex had met someone new and was working. When it came to her turn to tell Alex her day, it took Rosie a moment to think of over the day before responding, "Well I got into first period late cause there was an accident by my house, so I and the teacher wasn't too happy about that. I think I failed a test in Health, but I hope I didn't; Math was usual, though we're getting close to Geometry so it should be getting easier for me to work on." She chuckled at the remark before thinking what else to add. "Oh, and I heard from a little birdie in P.E today about a rumor going 'round that I'm going to be offered the Piano Concerto piece at the next big Orchestra concert, but I haven't dug around to see if it's true or not though." She smiled as she thought of the idea of playing the Concerto. "Other than that my day has been good." She added.
