Emmaline rubbed at her own shoulder, willing it to stop aching. She'd tripped over her bag earlier. It didn't help that she could still feel her cheeks burning from pure embarrassment. Everyone had just stared at her. It was there that she wanted to be swallowed up by the floor. She just had to trip when she was walking out of class, when everyone could see. Sighing, she tried to push those thoughts from. She fiddled with a slightly crumpled book, and then opened it.
Her fall earlier had knocked the book about so much some of the pages had begun to tear from the spine. Emmaline grew fearful. It wasn't even her book. She blinked away a couple of tears that threatened to fall. She was being a baby.
She knelt on the floor to pick the page up, and stayed there for a moment. She didn't quite feel like picking herself up just yet, so she slumped back, letting her butt hit the floor, the floor was surprisingly comfy. It was then she realised that the floor wasn't actually - the floor, it was gym mats, the soft and plump ones. She held the page in her hand, limply, she placed the page on the mat, and just stared idly at the poster on the back of the door to store cupboard.
She probably shouldn't be there, but she'd had to find somewhere to just be by herself. She was lucky it was a rather large cupboard, so she had room to stretch out, and she didn't feel claustrophobic in the space. Emmaline had found a pile of gym mats to sit on, so she wasn't too uncomfortable, which was a good thing. Though, naturally it was super chilly.
She rubbed her arms, wishing she'd worn a thicker jumper. God she disliked winter, it was cold and dark, she didn't like the dark. She hadn't since she was a little girl. She missed her dogs most of all, the two baby puppies were still puppies and she wanted to see the cute pups, though they did bite her jeans all the time. She closed her eyes, willing herself just to nap for a little while. It wouldn't be too bad right, if she just slept for a while. Before she knew it, she was asleep, curled under her fluffy coat.
She was awoken to the sound of approaching footsteps. Her eyes slowly opened, and her eyes began to adjust to the light flooding through a now open door. “Hmm” she mumbled, then realised that someone was probably with her. Her arms hooked around her knees, as she pulled her knees to her chest, trying to make herself as small as possible.
