Coffee made life infinitely more bearable, Alex decided. And Mae's was pretty much the best place around to get it. Lucky for her, even living on campus didn't mean she had to stay there on the weekends, and she'd been only too anxious to get out. Living with Melody was interesting, but usually not in a good way, and while her roommate was suspiciously absent on week day afternoons and evenings, she seemed to be around more on the weekends. Which made Alex doubly determined to get away.
It was a pretty short walk, which was good because Alex wasn't a fan of cabs. She could afford them, of course, but she didn't like the distinctive smell and attitude that most cab drivers she'd encountered had. Besides that, she generally liked to be outside. So she'd taken her time meandering through town until she'd made it to the cafe. Once inside, she wasted no time approaching the counter and putting in an order for a mocha with extra espresso. Caffeine addict that she was, a regular drink wasn't nearly enough.
A couple of minutes later, she found herself milling around in search of a seat. Alex was particular about her chairs, and her favorite one was already taken. As such, she was forced to settle into the absurd routine of sitting in every available chair until she found one she was satisfied with. She'd settle into one for a couple of seconds before standing and moving to the next. It probably looked insane to anyone else, but it would be well worth the effort when she found a chair that was cozy enough to appease her.
